Away From The Awd Draft~by Patrick Kevin O’Shea

Away From The Awd Draft

Image may contain: text

Please come inside
Wipe your feet on the mat
From out of the cold
Come in from the draft
Slip off your owd coat
I’ll hang it , to warm
As the wind blows outside
Preparing for storm
I’ve swept this stone floor
Where black bits were strewn
That spat from this owd fire
Across this warm room
Now just sit down beside me
On this owd wooden chair
As I put on the owd kettle
For a tay pot to share
Air your damp clothing
Beside this hearth to sit
As I put some more coal on
To keep this owd fire lit
The flames they are dancing
With dark shadows in pout
Black smoke up the chimney
From roof pots to tout
So sip your tay slowly
On this chair where your sat
Warming you all over
Away from the awd draft
