This is an old poem of mine inspired by my dear friend Marlene Arevalo

 

in my pain the whole world rests

yes, but it is you who has taught me
that its pain , which hurts
I have learnt from you that it’s pain
which cleanses you , it may hurt
but it is also a balm to your heart
as you hurt it hurts in your heart
taking you further away from yourself
in a love so pure
seeking you within itself
to love you more
as you love others in your pain
taking away your pain from your pain it no longer pains
as your pain in you comes to a rest
in it for your whole world to rest
in it the pain of the whole world rests
in a pain so novel
where only pain can rest
