WHERE HAVE ALL THE SUNSET’S GONE~by Rob Natello

WHERE HAVE ALL THE SUNSET’S GONE

They used to be there each night,
to console and caress.
No more do they matter.
Even the clouds assemble high.
Painting a picture of titular brightness
that fades….

Plunging into the sea to meld with
the corpulent current.
Rising in it’s wake to corresponding
high or low clouds.
cumbulous or cirrus.
Seagulls diving nearby to salute the passing
rays.

The pentultimate time of day,
ending on a note as with jazz composition.
A crescendo as it were.
Across the gulf of Mexico from
Clearwater beach
all used to seem peaceful and circumspect.
No more is that possible.
They left with your love.
They left with you….
where have all the sunset’s gone….
