Cold~by Lynn Elliott

Cold

In this place and time where romance was set
And the moon and stars played hard to get
The sea was calm and oh so black
An omen of what was coming next

I reached for your hand
To comfort you so
When you jerked it away
That’s all i needed to know

And I was so grateful for the cold driving rain
And in that instant
That’s what I became

Tenuous candles
Flickered and glowed
You reached for my hand
My hand of ice cold

And in this place for just us two
Where our hands interlocked
And our bodies did too
I should reach for you now
But I don’t remember why…
