THE PAPER BOY~by Jyotirmaya Thakur

THE PAPER BOY

The little boy has a biological alarm,
He wakes up before dark is dawn,
Quietly sneaks out of the back door,
His mother awakes asleep on the floor,

She is his full time partner on tip toe,
Despite her steep daily grind,
She fixes his breakfast to save time,
Then accompanies him to corner blind.

He takes his bicycle loaded upfront,
Magazines tied with a rope back stand,
In cold or rain, hot morning blues ,
He visits all driveways through and through.

Uphill road or narrow alleys,
Dangerous paths with sleeping bodies,
Street dogs chasing his tweet bike echoes,
Crashing his trips with morning walk fellows.
