Loyalty~by Patrick Kevin O’Shea

Image may contain: horse

18 hands of solid beast.
Goliath was his name.
Strongest for miles around.
Tales of power was his fame.

He worked the feilds for his master.
Last century in the Shire.
Jet Black coat, upon broad shoulders.
White flared ankles his attire.

Loyal and faithful to his owner.
Within mindset , heart and soul.
Working sweat and blood that he grafted.
Over years began to take its toll.

One last sunny morning.
Goliath, out his stable he came.
One last walk to his maker.
Oh!.what a crying shame.

Tail a swating, nostrils a sniffing.
As he looked Inside his masters eye.
Goliath knew what was a coming.
But couldn’t understand why.

His master pulled his gun out.
As Goliath prepared to die.
He bowed his head to his master.
Loyal till the end thinking , why master why ……….
