Daily missive for Tuesday the 20th of February.~ A walk along the foreshore.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Tuesday the 20th of February.
A walk along the foreshore.

Heavy air
Sinks hearts
Beneath a layer
Of easy breathers
Mutton heads
Who lost the way
To San Jose
Crash through layers
Of low flying cloud
Hanging languorously from
Cobweb skies
Catching the last
Of the sun
Vying to lift fallen spirits
With parachute payments
Paragliding across the point
In the hope of being
Chosen as extras
In a dystopian nightmare
Meanwhile old timers
Gasp on a last cigarette
Before the golden mile
When coffee shops
Spill out
Onto the street
A welcome smile fills every seat
Clean living
Smells of vanilla
Skin cancer
Is a bi-word
For insurance
Slap on a tan
Wear tight underwear
Walk with a swagger
Dance like Jagger
If you must
But be wary of tattoos
In strange places
Children with innocent faces
Eating ice cream
Cuckolds walking dogs
Musclebound brains
With whirring cogs
Train to be machines
And beach volleyball teams
Not quite as wholesome
As they seem
Practice their gift
Whilst the coaches scream
But you get my drift
You know what I mean.
