No Shame~by Paul Lenzi

No Shame

tears

“Tears of Time” by Maany

much can be seen
in the tears of old men
the passing of personal eras
defined by each lifetime
each cradle to cane
span of time with its
moments of triumph
and tragedy caught
like photographs fixed
to the skin of each teardrop
lit dim with the glisten of
a gray dying light

there is no shame
in the tears of old men
in the crying from grief
for times gone
good or bad or benign
but all nonetheless lived
all the trickling memories
dripping their last down
now frail furrowed cheeks
into elderly beards
to evaporate under
a gray dying light
