WHO BELONGS TO ME
WHOM DO I BELONG TO
I questioned my breath,
Whether he was mine;
He answered, “I am yours,
Only for sometime,
I will vanish into thin air,
At the time of your death”.
I asked my heartbeats,
Whether they were mine;
They carefully answered,
“As long as you live,
We are but your lifeline”.
I questioned my faith,
Whether he was mine;
He answered,” If you really,
Want the answer,
If you insist,if you must,
I’m full of contradictions,
Brimming with mistrust”.
I asked my hopes and wishes,
Whether they were mine;
They answered in unison,
“We live in mirages,
In your illusions,
In the distant horizon”.
I questioned my dream,
Whether he was mine;
He answered,” I exist only,
In your imagination,
In your fantasy,
In your unending passion”.
I asked my emotions,
Whether they were mine;
They answered,
“We reside in your heart,
And grow with
Your experiences,
Which you gain,
From time to time”.
Then I asked myself,
“To whom do I belong,
Who am I?”
Someone answered,
From deep within,
“You belong to no one,
No one belongs to you,
You are a part of,
The magnificent whole,
The infinite I”.
