LOOKING BACK
I see myself dancing on the desk in kindergarten ,
When the teacher went out summoned by the warden,
I remember my friends throwing chalks at each other,
Having fun in the class was a regular feature.
My best friend’s focus was on his crush,
While I was proud of my parents trust ,
Put my heart and soul in studies first ,
Proud of my discipline and a monitor just.
My classmates bunked classes by choice,
I sat and listened to knowledgeable voice,
My cousins went on trips to beautiful destinations,
I was busy preparing for future exams with dedication.
I saw many friends going for sports competition,
Some friends were busy in shopping collection,
I kept saving for my future fascinations,
My sisters and brothers were happier in observation.
I was proud of my vision working in silence
My colleagues did minimum for work life balance,
I performed my best and got double promotion,
This made me lonely and a solitary position.
I have many regrets in life no doubt,
There were choices I made and lost,
But in the long run present becomes past,
I would not relive my life again so fast.
Now I let myself live in moments pleasure,
Future is important but present is treasure,
I give time to myself and family in leisure,
As I grow old material gain is no measure.
