(sonnet # 51)

Image may contain: one or more people and outdoor

Unchangeable love, no mask I wear today.
You ride upon me like the driven sun;
With each new dawn, my heart is holding sway
And there’s no place in the world I can run
To, to escape the hold you have on my heart,
Your citadel, where you are meant to live.
It holds you now and I’m not free to start
Another life because it’s you I give
All my thoughts of love to. And you see,
Should years my number be, four score and ten,
Maybe more or less, you’ll always be
The one who pulls me time and time again.
No ablution of the days for me –
You’re the roots that feed this hungry tree.
