The shafts of light exit from the holes~by Shashi Gupta

The shafts of light exit from the holes

The shafts of light exit from the holes
Where stabbed you’ve been by those you loved.
But struggled on you have, your soles torn,
People watching in amazement at the sight of your fall.

Shattered soul, scattered along the way
Can you not see your bones are on display?
Ragged hair and skin tattered like a rag,
Insisting you’re still alive, though like a zombie you walk.

Vultures overhead waiting for the flesh to rot
Tears unshed, swallowed all pain you felt
Far from your abode on distant lands,
Try to reach back before the world comes to an end.

SG.
