Daily missive for Thursday the 24th of May.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Thursday the 24th of May.

A table for one
Out of the sun
The pavement is too hot
To go barefoot
Even the sand is on fire
Sit me away from the window
In a cosy corner
Far away from the restrooms
Or the door to the kitchen
Where privacy
Means something different
And the food is flavoured
With desperation
You have several tables free
Surely there is one
For me
Thank you
It is my understanding
Regular customers
Keep you in business
Be attentive
You will soon
Get to know
What I like
Perhaps if I had booked
Then you would be more generous
And not expect
A companion
Is it so unusual
To want to read alone
Whilst eating
Two covers are better than one
But then one is an improvement
On none
Now ask me how I am
In no time at all
We are in conversation
Next time you
Will welcome me in
Like an old friend
Soon this will become
An old haunt
I will be the ghost
In the window seat
A table for one
Scrambled eggs
On whole grain
A large Cappuccino
Strong
With an extra shot
No sugar
