POEM ” MONKEY BARS ” by martin gedge

Darkness knows me oh so well but only Jesus knows my fate
I tried to be a better man but my better showed up late
I’m stuck behind these monkey bars and I know you can’t relate
they said that prisons like a zoo and I feel just like an ape
I hope that when my Lawyer comes that I don’t have to wait
for every moment that goes by I checked my mental state
I bide my time right down the line and I’m aging at the rate
if no parole I’ll dig that hole and make my great escape…
