Tears of a Clown~by Patrick Kevin O’Shea

Tears of a Clown

The “Big Top” called
For all to flock
To watch the show
At eight O Clock.
The buz that ZOOMED!
Around the place.
That circus show
In town to grace

The smiley pose
That big red nose
With giant shoes
And baggy clothes
In circus rings
With painted face
Loads of buckets
To chuck and chase
Make children shout
With screams of glee
That daft old clown
For all to see

Slapstick humour
Now dated gone
Clowns not needed
Circus now annon
Beneath that mask
His teardrops fall
With eyes that well
Then drop to floor
His time now passed
So out of date
Where can he go
What is his fate
He sits beside
His silent phone
That never rings
Upset alone …….
