For Too Long~by Collins Desmond-Nick

For Too Long

No automatic alt text available.

For too long our eyes have been closed to the deeds of injustice
yet widely open to acts of prejudice.

For too long our eyes have been
dried to tears for the oppressed babies and mothers in the wild.

For too long our ears have been hedged to the melodious drums
of peace and confabulations.

For too long our mouths have been caged from singing the long awaited rythms of justice and liberty.

For too long our nostrils have been immured to breathing the blissful air of change and progress.

For too long our hearts have
been frozen to the bawlings of love
and absolution.

For too long our feets have stopped responding to the calls for protest against oppression and enslavement

And all this happens because for too long our hands have stopped voting for men and women of integrity.
