“RED HARVEST” ~by Martin Gedge

POEM “RED HARVEST” by martin gedge

Image may contain: sky, cloud, bird, outdoor and nature

Red as fire let the corn fields grow
call to the winds and gather the crow
over the canvas as the skies bleed rain
ablaze to the ground in the ripe of the vein
bitter the cold in the shadows they creep
drip goes the heart to the sound of the beat
footsteps lead up to a fresh potted grave
headless and haunted in the dead of the cave
he who lurks linger in the blackness of night
with cracks of the thunder and the whip of the strike
in a cherry moon setting in the wake of the storm
fear seeps a child and the serpent is born
rage of his fury in the harvest of red
in shape of it’s soldiers with death on their tread
up from the wreck and a 1000 built strong
to take on the world and like demons they spawn….
