BLIND FAITH~by Saroj K Padhi

BLIND FAITH

Image may contain: sky, outdoor and nature

When ripples of mild dark crawl in
covering the face of a wounded sky,
birds return to cry in ransacked nests
soon after the day’s hectic, futile fly;

my naïve neighbours try to cuddle God
in images of fond, false, fishy god-men
and elite ones retreat to flashy cocoons
with disregard to the fellow men’s pain,

naked babies beautiful like real gods
silently bear the brunt of superstition
on their defenceless tummies, a mark
of an accursed, ill-fated, ugly civilization !

lethal like the bullets from the terrorists
these pellets of faith crush my dreams
and I fall back on splinters of an image
carved on supple body of moon beams !
