” SEA OF LOVE ” ~by Martin Gedge

POEM ” SEA OF LOVE ” by martin gedge

Wrapped up in this little ship
a letter to my bride
a tucked in note addressed to float
a boat against the tide
through the waves upon the sea
across the great divide
a message of sweet love I send to you
it’s started on the 4th of July
just me against the shore
I vowed to show my deepest heart
in lengths forever more
just how much that you mean to me
and how true to the core
that I would sail this current ocean blue
and in this pocket I have sent
a token on a string
a lured speck that would reflect
a hook that wears a ring
and if by chance the fishies dance
to make baby sing
then deep inside it’s truly meant to be
and still there waits the other side
that beats this boyish heart
we may be far but wish the star
ours world will never apart
we always seem to find our way
that lights our path through dark
and sails your little ship right back to me…
