WINTRY LOVE~by Bipul Kalita

Wintry love sidelines maturity
bringing back childhood
foggy and half-dreamy
to seek and find solemn truth
which I will cherish until my death.

Days of collecting firewood
remind me of myself
how I wanted to help mom
with tiny hands
with her easiest tasks
and, she eyed my little fingers
touching and kissing their softness.

I can’t forget the heavenly bliss
she brought to me
ever fresh and lovely
which takes me back to childhood
in wintry moments of circling round fire
even in her permanent absence in this life.

I like to play with children earnestly
sportingly with myself
forgetting I’m getting old
gathering knowledge, good and bad
learning to be happy and sad
while facing vivid faces of wintry shadows.
