LIGHTENING STRIKES BEFORE THE THUNDER ROARS~by Mark Hay

LIGHTENING STRIKES BEFORE THE THUNDER ROARS

M.A.D. Hay

2019

Lightening strikes before the thunder roars
Ice cold rain slashes the air as it pours
Birds perch in the tree feathers soaked
Beneath the tree mantle the cat is cloaked

Weather vane cockerel by the wind blown
Whips round the house entry denied it moans
Arthritic icy claws the man’s knees shred
As he looks out the window in knowing dread

GHOSTS & REGRETS

M.A.D. Hay

2018

Ghosts & regrets
Memories to forget
Before I feel down
& in yesterdays drown

The moments pass
Like nothing ever lasts
& look back I could
But I don’t think I should

One step at a time
Walking a new line
Ever forward to forget
Ghosts & regrets
