Daily missive for Tuesday the 19th of February.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Tuesday the 19th of February.

He drummed
Was consumed by it
Ears drummed by
A drunken father
For the sin of a
Heart beating too loudly
It had been
Drumming in his ears
Little children’s feet
Always drumming
Thrumming with energy
Up and down the hallway
Dancing to
A different drum
A drummer boy who
Became a drum major
Drummed out of the army
When he beat a drum
Solo
After a wild night
Burst an eardrum
In a catfight
Took exception
To the rhythm section
Who were both called Tom
At home
In a cardboard slum
Drank his tea from a kettle drum
Sank into a depression
Snared by his obsession
For percussion
And a jazz riff
Who liked freeform blow
From a giant spliff
She could sing up a dream
Together they made steam
Punk sound old
A little night music
For the soul
Drumming took its toll
He was a dropped stick
Short of a paradiddle
Should have learned
How to play the fiddle
Like his brother
Who was a little older
And is still a bloody
Soldier.
