HAND KERCHIEF~by Balachandran Nair

Seen a drop of dried up tear
Adorn her otherwise spotless cheek
I looked for a silk hand-kerchief
To wipe it off her face, all clear.

Saw a piece of cloud in sky
Extended hands, I reached
Wind jealous blew it off
I retrieved hands empty.

Saw lot of white sand dry
Ran, neared to collect handful
Wave jealous wet it whole
I pulled back legs, empty hand.

Saw devotee shower flower to deity
Leaned down to pick few
An elephant caparisoned ran amock
I ran back to save life, empty.

Saw splendour in setting horizon
Mind voyaged to tear a bit
Sooner it chameleoned, hid
My senses return to sanity, dark.

Sat back, I read my palm
It’s all lined up, left, right, middle
It bear no fashion but full of compassion
I extend it to wipe off tear
Wonder! The stain is missing,
She now smile like a Full Moon!
