Daily missive for Wednesday the 20th of March~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Wednesday the 20th of March

There is frailty
Barely concealed flaws
A lack of beauty
From within
Nothing of substance
To hold the pieces together
As worn stitches
Come apart
The thread holding
Back the secrets
Of a barely beating heart
Is stretched beyond endurance
For what purpose
When so little is left
To protect
Whatever was there
Has surely
Drained away
Perhaps it is time
To cut the remaining ties
Ease the pain
Of leaving
As nothing really matters
There is no final
No subject of discussion
Nothing left of value
Peel away the dry husk
There is no seed
No fruit
No flesh
No mass
No structure
No meaning
Other than a belief
In forgiveness
As well as the endurance
To see it through
From the beginning
Of innocence
To the reckoning
Of recounting
What was lost
And at what cost
