Daily missive for Tuesday the 19th of March.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Tuesday the 19th of March.

Who walks with me
As the tumbledown blows
A pocket full
Of sorrows
Trail behind
So many leaves
Chasing down the old track
Harried into corners
Making homes for insects
Mice are meeker
Than the Robin
He has a brave heart
And knows his place well
Many times I have seen him
As we have
Passed this way before
Does he know me
From days gone by
Tarry a while
In the afternoon
Beneath the falling sun
It is a strange place
To leave a fellow
All alone
A hair’s breadth
From beauty
Hemmed in on all sides
Distant are the hills
Where the shepherd waits
For the first sign
Of winter
Will I see another snowfall
Ask for shelter
Have a conversation
With a stranger
Offering redemption
Or does this road
A different destination
Who is to know
If I am of his flock
Perhaps he waits for me
How can this be
When his existence
Has been devised
To fill in the gaps
Which have developed
In my understanding
Of this journey’s purpose
Is it enough
To keep on moving
And if I do
Will the essential
Purity of my intention
Lead me home
