Stolen moments~by Jyotirmaya Thakur

Stolen moments

Image may contain: 1 person

I kept saving the best moments to savour at last,
Like the best sweet to eat after I starve,
Those moments were stolen for one reason or the other,
For they were seized before me by another.

Storing time to relish when in leisure,
Like money in a bank to treasure,
Saving for distant future of pleasures,
Dreams that later never did savour.

Bank of time was reaching bankruptcy,
Joys that I kept in my pockets in secrecy,
Tore away the shores in emergency,
I kept patching up adversity in urgency.

At twilight one day when I relaxed ,
Saw myself in the mirror to be dressed,
With attires and accessories stored,
Person I saw was a stranger unexpected.

Beauty had been stolen by ravages of age,
Black tresses had silvery tracks of race,
I had been so careful but still so scarce,
I was looking at my image in a lost stare.
