Evangeline*~by Constancio Sulapas Asumen Jr

Evangeline, gem queen of poetry,
Your literature of Acadian fame,
Remains a pendant in my memory;
That keeps your beauty and your name
Burning in their never quenching flame:
Evangeline, waiver our dreams fulfill
Neither by passion nor failure of will!
Never we dwell in dormant history
Except in trespass, our pizazz to ease;
We trundle through the edge of misery
Tempting disgrace, our caprices to tease
Purchase the soul’s perdition with distress:
Evangeline, such goblins of my mind,
Implore your coquettish, much grace to find!
Dance check-to-check, the envy of our peers,
Pair, living chronicle of adventure;
In trysts we share the jitters and the fears
The stealth moments of our youthful measure;
Evangeline, forever you endure:
With vintage recollections make amends,
Cherish the beginnings, disclaim the ends!
In mild dose, dubious excuse to guide,
Resent the murmurs of ill-hidden sins;
Hasten invent much tighter clause to hide,
And ease the tremors of forgotten pains
Feign mea culpa, one option remains:
Evangeline, the temptress of my dreams,
Grant me your bond of effervescent schemes!
