Daily missive for Monday the 18th of November.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Monday the 18th of November.

They broke the mould
When you were born
How many times
Has that been said
Sometimes in praise
Others in dread
The phrase, so brutally revealed
To be as unapologetic
As the veracity of the claim
It makes
Is plainly two-faced,
Even though as words
They are relatively
Innocently formed
The essence
Of their power lies
In the intent
Or purpose of their use
Are they praise or curse
Which is worse
Perhaps it is whether
They are uttered with love
As true as blood
Wishing nothing but
The pleasure of recognition
To the recipient
I was more a splinter
In the eye of the beholder
My brother’s keeper
If you dig deeper
Looking for a truth
Forever lost
When I was young
But never
As an individual
Believed to be
Singularly unique.
A chip off
The old block
Fashioned,
In a parent’s image
Before they
Broke the mould
Is what any fallen angel
Would wish to be told
Regardless of what
They may do
Wouldn’t you?
