Root Beer Float

On Friday nights when I was young I liked that the most.
That’s when Dad would bring us all for an ice cold root beer float.
Off to A&W as we all packed in the car.
With that great big old Pontiac he didn’t drive that far.
Mom would get just root beer us boys all root beer floats.
The girls would be on roller skates all a perfect host.
Then off we would go to the park the see the colored waterfall.
Those are the times I remember we all just had a ball.
We had a lot of brothers and there were sisters too.
Always had a house full with so many things to do.
Each of us we had our chore and had to get it done.
Before we could go outside work came before the fun.
I could write a book on all the memories.
The good old days as I grew up and what they meant to me.
The holidays were special and everyone was there.
Those were all the happy times that we all did share.
Now every time I have a root beer it brings me to the past.
Of all my childhood memories and pray they always last.
So if you’re as lucky as I was and have a super Dad.
Those Friday nights with root beers floats will be the best you ever have.
