The Big Island of Hawaii
Comprising of eight main islands.
We’ll visit a dormant volcano
And go from highlands to the wetlands.

The southern most point in the U.S.A.
The winds are a constant 27 knots.
Blowing east to west 24 hours a day
If you like wind this is the spot!

A population of two hundred and thirty
Island of Nihau is privately owned.
Legend is the Goddess of Pele
Originally made this her home.

Kaui’s the island most noted for its rainfall
In fact, it is the planet’s wettest place!
Four hundred eighty-eight inches of precip in all,
Every year on average– that’s the pace!

The island of Oahu is not to hard to take
Where the city Honolulu glitters in the sun
Over one hundred beaches the surf is really great
This fantastic island is rated number one!

The world’s largest dormant volcano
Is the famous Haleakala.
On the Island they call Maui
And the old town of Lahania.

Rare African and Indian animals
At Molokai Ranch Wildlife Park
On the Island of Molokai
Not allowed there after dark!

The Hibiscus is the flower
The humuhumunukunuku apua’a is the fish!
The Motto is: “The life of the land
Is perpetuated in righteousness.”

Before we leave some famous names
Kohala and Sakata a few so you will know.
Bette Midler, Carrere and Hiram Fong
Kamehameha and most famous is Don Ho
Statehood, August 21, 1959 the 50th state
Capital is Honolulu

The state of Hawaii consists of eight main islands, Nihau, Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai,
Lanai, Kahoolawe and the Big Island of Hawaii.
There are only 12 letters in the Hawaiian alphabet, A,E,I,O,U,H,K,L,M,N,P and W,
Ka Lae is the southern most point in the United States and a constant 27 knots, winds blowing east to west, 24 hrs a day 365 days a year.
The Hanalei River a “National Treasure”, and is under government protection of course.
Island of Molokai, Kalaaupapa once a leper colony administered by Father Damien.
The Big Island is the world’s largest, producer of orchids and macadamia nuts
Hawaii is the only state that grows coffee.
The Island of Kahoolawe, Federal Law No One Allowed!
