THE MIGHTY LITTLE BRAVE-THE BEGINNING

Deep in the jungle lived a colony of mice

All of them were gray, except for one, was white!

They thought he was the Great Spirit, from another time

And everyday for hours, they would stand in line.

Just to kneel before him, must be of Great Divine.

They would bring him food and jewels,

Anything of wealth.

He would greet each mouse the same,

And wish them all good health.

Story after story

Was told of him each night.

All the youngsters dreamed of him

When they turned out the lights.

There was many stories,

Few were very small.

The white mouse had seemed to grow

At least to ten feet tall!

The stories all were told

By the elders of the tribe.

Young and old would gather round

Would never blink an eye!

I will do my best

To tell you what was said.

Of this mighty warrior

And the visions in his head.

A drought had come

Upon the land,

All were in need if water.

The colony must quench

Their thirst or they surely

Would be slaughtered.

Of all the enemies of the mice

Which one would come first?

They had to move to safer ground

Before they could quench their thirst

The little brave took command

And led them all away.

Their enemy would be there fast,

They could not waste a day!

He saved every one of them

Led them to a dried out dam.

He became the hero

The Savior of their clan.

The dam were once the beavers lived,

Before the pond went dry.

Beneath the thorns they all would live

And still could see outside!

The lizards and the snakes

Could not pick up their scent.

And the beavers home became,

A most protective fence.

In their new home they felt safe

But they were soon to learn.

They saw the eagles flying high

And taste of mouse they yearned!

That created quite a problem,

For they were in need of food.

A volunteer of scouts was formed

To see what they could do.

The scouts went out at night

And searched upon the land.

To find whatever they could eat

And bring back to the clan.

One by one, night after night

Not one of them returned!

The eagles had their feast on all

This is what they learned!

The mighty brave was in charge

Of their safety one and all.

He had to find the answer

Before they all did fall!

To the eagles high above,

As they ate them one by one.

He did not panic but made a plan

And this is what he done!

He took two soldiers with him

The strongest of them all.

And left his orders of they should do

By chance that he should fall.

He took his men and climbed the mountain,

Right to the eagles nest.

Not stopping once to reach his quest,

It’s been days before his rest!

Now inside the eagles nest,

What was he to do?

Although he was quite worried,

He had several plans to choose.

He lost too many of his men,

No more could he afford.

To lose them to the eagles

Then there would be no more!

Then the great bald eagle

Saw he had a guest!

This mighty warrior stood his ground,

To do whatever was his best!

He looked straight into the eagles eyes

And started to confess.

“It’s time you left this mountain side

And relieve us of this stress!”

The eagle took one look

And was just amazed!

How this white mouse with no fear,

Did not shy away.

The eagle said, “You must understand,

You are my favorite meal!”

“Now I see that you are a man,

And know that you are real.”

“Real is what you say to me,

So let me ask you please.”

“If I should let you live in peace,

What’s in it for me?”

The brave replied, “You are the king here

In the sky, I promise only this.”

We will abide by natures rule

And keep an iron fist!”

The great bald eagle then replied,

“It’s time we make a change.”

And gave this smallest warrior

One courageous name!

“There is much truth

In your ways.”

“From this day you will be called,

Mighty Little Brave!”

From that moment on

They became the best of friends.

The eagle and the Mighty Brave

Right up to the end!

A pact was signed between the mouse

And the great bald eagle.

For friends they will always be

And everything was legal.

The eagle spoke to Mighty

Jump upon my back.

I’ll fly you home with good news

That we have signed a pact.

They call me the Great Bald Eagle

But you can call me friend.

We’ll be your greatest allies

And protect you to the end.

The colony that lived below

Saw shadows overhead.

The bigger that the shadows got

Great fear had filled their heads.

At least a dozen eagles,

Maybe even more!

Now circling the mice’s home

They feared they knew what for!

Then they saw their leader

On the great ones back.

He waved to all the clan below

Soon they all relaxed.

Mighty and his braves

Were escorted safely home.

They planned a celebration

The biggest party south of Nome!

They had a coronation and proclaimed

Mighty as their king.

And all the single lady mice

Dreamed of getting the kings ring!

The eagles were invited

Every single one!

For days they celebrated

And everyone had fun!

As strangers they were enemies

Now they are forever friends.

For all the mice the eagles ate

The more they would amend.

The major threat now past them

The guards would still be placed.

Still predators to watch for,

The lizards and the snakes!

The dam had proved to be protection

So all the mice could live.

The king with all his wisdom

Knew hard rain the dam would give!

He called a general meeting

And he began to speak.

We have to think of moving

A safer home we all must seek.

He met with the Great Bald Eagle

Asked for help and soon.

If he did not move his clan to safety

All would die in the monsoons!

His friend replied to Mighty,

“Live with us up on the mountain.”

Mighty liked this new idea

Even moved the church and chaplain!

Soon it was moving day

The eagles landed one by one.

Every mouse was flown away

Not resting ‘till it was done!

High upon the mountain top

They all loved their new home.

Did not take long to settle in

Before they could explore and roam.

They no longer had to worry

Had everything right there.

Shelter, food and great friends

And a leader who did care!

Once everything was normal

The great eagle had a plan.

He called Mighty to his home

A proposition if you can.

“I propose that you and I

We become a team!”

“We’ll save all of natures creatures

This has been my dream!”
