A FATHER.

the strength your hand can hold
the love and care you come to behold
a family’s treasure more than gold
a house with an endearing threshold

you dared a burden through life
bring forth all goodness with strife
a vine to cling with so much trust
stayed still through a stormy gust

for years you stood still and stern
taught them so much in life to learn
patiently guiding so not to be astray
run through rough waves along the way

across the ocean of knowledge and wisdom
you brought them well to gain their freedom
the wailing of reality could be of pain
but you made them strong to impart a gain

a father as you are , through thick and thin
yet on your lips a smile like a silly grin
only to tell that things are well and better
a heart fragile and broken yet stood stronger
