MID-WINTER SNACKING
by Jonathan Caswell
Repeated winter warm spells
Have brought out significant smells…
The neighborhood skunks
Come out from tree trunks
Or wherever a sleeping skunk dwells.
I sniffed their perfume tonight…
The source was out of sight,
Industrial intakes
For air, goodness sakes,
Can fill up quick with skunky spite.
Awakened, a skunk wants to eat,
So he listens for a nice crunchy treat
If a neighbor would stray
Into sight, “let us spray”,
That’s why winter air smells so “sweet”.
this was really a excellent work I can tell many stories about this critter
