LOST…LOST…WHAT HAVE WE LOST?
We find that our memories
Moth-eaten with holes in the lees…
Keep slipping away
The file is okay,
But we are misplacing the keys.
–
Old hymns that we sung every week,
The tips of our tongues try to seek…
Recombining phrases
The voice still raises,
But soon we find we’re “up a creek”.
–
It doesn’t help that our current church
Has lyrically left us in lurch….
They know how to play
The newer song way,
But the old stuff takes too much research.
–
My wife and I may sing together
In all sorts of life’s changing weather…
But we can’t always choose
Which lyrics to use,
With each on a different measure.
–
We need find recordings of hymns
And practice them with a few friends…
Then teach the congregation
Improving the situation,
Our memories will have more cues, then!
