UNREALIZED DREAM
From the times through college when I used to paint,
I’ve always had a dream…
To paint the sky and women and men
As those painted by the masters were seen.
–
My paintings are basic, Grandpa Moses-like,
My “noses” can barely be seen…
But a charcoal study by an artist showed
How quickly a nose could be keen.
–
The paint mix to make realistic skin glow
Seems so far above where I’m cast…
I’m sure there’s a way, but as yet
I haven’t had the time or courage to ask.
–
Abstract is okay, but I like realism
To flow like a hand in glove…
I’ve yet to master the desired effect
In oils, acrylics and love.

I did get half-way decent at it for being largely self-taught.
