Daily missive breaks into the weekend Sunday the 10th of July.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive breaks into the weekend Sunday the 10th of July.

I see you
Even here
In an empty café
The seats like bones
So many dried ribs
Picked clean.
The music is always
And the laughter
Of a child breaks
The spell
Too late
To detect a
Bowie riff behind the
Brass section.
Fame beckons
As I remember
How we felt
The day we drove
To the pain clinic
With the sound
On the radio.
Too many heroes die
Maybe I should cry
Here and now
Facing the empty chair
In a café like a food hall
At a high school
The class of ‘64
All dressed up
With nowhere to go.
A ghost with pink hair
Waits tables in her sleep
Powder puff cheeks
Blush at a glance
From a hipster,
Who orders mushrooms
On gluten free bread.
Too many free radicals
Go to his head
And he believes in himself
Enough to ask her out.
But she is a minor
And the café owner
Who is right behind her
Didn’t have to shout
But he is a father
So he did,
Just protecting a kid
And tells him
Where to go.
I would pay good money
To watch this,
It would be a best selling
I guess now we know
When the world is a star
There is
Life on Mars.
Should I wait for you?
